Filmfare Awards Facts6

Did you know that the awards for lyricists and playback singers started only after 5 years of the inception of awards? Also till 1966 there was no separate award for male and female playback singers.

Best Music director was the only category in the Music genre that started with the birth of Filmfare Awards in 1953.

The top five Music Directors on the basis of number of times they have won the award are:
Shankar-Jaikishen - 9
Laxmikant-Pyarelal - 7
A.R. Rehman - 5
Nadeem-Shravan - 4
R.D.Burman - 3

Shankar-Jaikishen (1970,1971,1972), Laxmikant Pyarelal (1977,1978,1979) and Nadeem Shravan (1990,1991,1992) are the only music directors to have made a hattrick in winning the Best Music Director award.

Salil Chowdhary (Madhumati) is the only music director to have 100% winning and nomination ratio. He has been nominated just once and has won.

Madan Mohan never won a Filmfare award inspite of being nominated thrice, so is the case with Viju Shah who has been nominated for four times.

The only lyricist to have a hattrick in winning the Filmfare award is Shakeel Badayuni (1961,1962,1963).

The top five lyricists on the basis of number of times they have won are:
Gulzar - 8
Javed Akhtar- 6
Shakeel Badayuni - 3
Shailendra - 3
Sameer - 3

Asad Bhopali and Rajendra Krishna have 100 % nomination and winning ratio. Both have been nominated once and have won.

Javed Akhtar has set a record this year (2004). All the five songs chosen for the Best Lyrics category are written by him.

Javed Akhtar was nominated for the first time in1985 after which he has won 6 times and has been nominated for 10 times!

Filmfare Award for Best lyrics started only in 1958.

Awards for playback singing also started in 1958 and would you believe that for 9 years (1958-1966) there was no separate award for male and female singers.
