“Sholay” is said to be inspired from following movies,
1. Once Upon A Time In The West
2. Seven Samurai
3. Magnificent Seven
and “Sholay” famous song “Mehbooba Mehbooba” is based on “Say You Love Me” by Demi Roussas and is equally enjoyable.

Darr – “DEAD ALM” (Australian film) & “CAPE FEAR”
Salaam Namaste – “NINE MONTHS”
Dhoom – Has got shades of "TOO FAST TOO FURIOUS” & “OCEAN ELEVEN”
Hum Tum – “HARRY MET SALLY” was adapted beautifully.
Mere yaar Ki shaadi hai – “MY BEST FRIEND’S WEDDING”
Yeh Dillagi – “SABRINA”

“Tara Rum Pum” partly resembled the Tom Cruise starrer ‘Days Of Thunder’....
And there were scenes and situations in the second half inspired from Italian Classic ‘Life Is Beautiful’.

“Raqeeb” – Copied from “Murder By Natural Causes”

“Raghu Romeo” (2003) - from Spanish director Pedro Almodovar's ATAME. (1990...also known as Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down)

“Tara Rum Pum” partly resembled the Tom Cruise starrer ‘Days Of Thunder’, and there were scenes and situations in the second half inspired from Italian Classic ‘Life Is Beautiful’.

“Chocolate” gets its whole content from “The Usual Suspects”

“3 Deewarein” is highly influenced by “The Shawshank Redemption”

“Janbaaz” get its inspiration from “Duel in the Sun” (1946) featuring Gregory Peck & Jennifer Jones.

“The Burning Train” takes its main plot from Japanese Movie “Shinkansen Daibakuha” or “The Bullet Train” (1975).

“Naina” – Completely Inspired from “The Eye”

“Bhoot” – It’s a kind of remake of Ram Gopal Verma’s Own movie “Raat”
But it surely is inspired from these English Versions : “The exorcist”, “Rosemary's baby” and “The Omen”

“Agnipath” & “Vaastav” - get it from “ScarFace”...
Al Pacino’s “SCARFACE" has inspired many Gangster movies and the most influenced are “Agnipath” & “Vaastav”.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali also gets inspired........
“Khamoshi” (Sanjay Leela Bhansali) was inspired from “Beyond Silence” (German)
It was German director Link's debut with touching and engaging exploration of the relationship between deaf parents and their hearing daughter who is going to learn music.
Same theme was there in the debut film of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Khamoshi”. Quite interesting.

The “spirited filmmaker” again repeated the inspiration thing in “BLACK” inspired by “THE MIRACLE WORKER”.

“Mujhse Shaadi Karogi” is highly inspired by “Meet the Parents” and also from “Anger Management”. Infact a whole scene of Salman’s dinner at Priyanka’s house where the ashes bowl gets broken by the cork of the bottle is a straight lift from "Meet The Parents".

“Kehta Hai Dil Baar Baar” - is inspired by "Meet the Parents" too.

“Aapko Pehle Bhi Kahin Dekha Hai” also gets inspiration from “Meet The Parents” & “Father OF the Bride”

Censor Board

The CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification), popularly known as Censor Board is a quasi-judicial body coming under the control of the Govt. of India. Once a film is certified, the exhibition of the film in the cinema halls comes under the purview of the respective State Government. Therefore, enforcement of Cinematograph Act is the sole responsibility of the State law and order machinery, namely, the Police Commissioners, the Collectors and the SPs of the Districts. The CBFC does not have any special police force of its own to enforce the provisions of Cinematograph Act.

Please check the publicity posters of the films and find out whether the category of certificate ( ‘U’, ’UA’, ‘A’ of ‘S’) issued by the Central Board of Film Certification has been indicated on it.

Please check whether children below 18 years of age are inside the theatre to witness a film which has been granted an 'A’ Certificate.

The censorship of films is governed by the The Cinematograph Act,1952, the Cinematograph (Certification) Rules promulgated in 1983 and the guidelines issued on December 6, 1991. The guidelines are issued under Section 5B of the Act. This section says that ' a film shall not be certified for public exhibition, if, in the opinion of the authority competent to grant the certificate, the film or any part of it is against the interests of the sovereignty and integrity of India, the security of the States, friendly relations with foreign States, public order, decency or morality or involves defamation or contempt of court or is likely to incite the commission of any offence
