The Cannes Film Festival facts
*The Cannes Film Festival (French: le Festival international du film de Cannes or simply le Festival de Cannes) is the world's most prestigious film festival, first held from September 20 to October 5, 1946 in the resort town of Cannes, in the south of France. Since then, it has been held annually in May with a few exceptions.
*The most prestigious award given out at Cannes is the Palme d'Or (Golden Palm) for the best film; this is sometimes shared by multiple films in one year. The jury of the festival, made of a small international selection of movie professionals.
*The Palme d'Or ("Golden Palm") is the name of the highest prize given to a film at the Cannes Film Festival. The prize was introduced in 1955 by the organizing committee (it was previously known as the Grand Prix du Festival international du film) and is now regarded as one of the film industry's most distinguished prizes.
*2005 jury of Cannes are Nandita Das and Salma Hayek Etc.
*In 2003, Rai became the first Indian actor to be a member of the jury at the Cannes Film Festival.

Jab We Met Movie review

Aditya (Shahid Kapoor), a defeated industrialist, is even more broken as the girl he loves is getting married. Unable to muster up the courage to return home, he aimlessly boards a train, bounding away into the night. As destiny would have it, on the train he meets Geet (Kareena Kapoor) - a beautiful but annoyingly talkative girl who is leaving Mumbai to go her hometown - Bhatinda (Punjab). Geet irritates Aditya to the point of getting him to leave the train. As she tries to get him back on the train, she ends up missing it and the two find themselves stranded on a desolate station with no luggage or money.
Geet’s family mistakes the two for lovers. Before this misconception can be cleared, Geet escapes to her boyfriend in Manali. Aditya leaves with her, and in Manali, Aditya feels empowered to return to Mumbai and resurrect his ailing business.
There is nothing greatly original in the story but the way director handled it was brilliant. Kareena has given her best effort up till now! Shahid was equally competent. It’s a cute love story, and feels like a breath of fresh air. This well made formula movie is a wonderful weekend bonanza

To take a break from my “favourite film” series, today I’m moving on my other passion in life: rock music. I am putting together a list of what I feel to be the 10 greatest rock songs ever.
10. Bob Marley: Redemption Song: This song is the story of Marley’s life, and a call to future generations to "sing these songs of freedom."
9. Metallica: One: The greatest true heavy metal song ever put to tape.
8. Beatles: Revolution: A strong melody, good playing, and a song that actually has something to say.
7. Guns N Roses: November Rain: It's not often that an 8 minute epic becomes a band's biggest hit. But such was the case with G'nR and November Rain.
6. Aerosmith: Walk This Way: Probably the best known guitar riff ever.
5. AC/DC: Highway to Hell: Those opening chords just sound like you're starting on a trip to hell. A whole lot of people can relate to being on a highway to hell.
4. The Doors: Light My Fire: I love the Doors. More accurately, I love Jim Morrison. Enough said.
3. U2: I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For: I honestly feel that this is the most honest song ever written.

If required one can even savour the sweet taste of parenthood.On the other hand,this concept is also marked by a significant loss of self-responsibility,identity etc.,The absence of a proper understanding between the couple is indeed an irritating factor which takes its toll on the offspring(s) too.
Yes,I do agree that 'jhagras ' do really happen between a married couple - the effect on children is also significant - but the BONDAGE factor is strong enough to prevent any partner in marriage to quit all of a sudden ,provided the circumstances are not that extraordinary.
However,this danger of quitting lurks significantly in the LT concept.Because.......the inherent philosophy behind adopting such a concept is itself ridden with the possibility of disintegration.The ' I DON'T CARE ' attitude is sufficient enough to put a question mark on committment and leaving lock,stock and barrel.
Further,our value-based societal infrastructure has still not put its stamp of approval on this LT concept.Our culture and tradition are so much deep-rooted that before indulging in the act,the ' BUT' factor still reigns supreme.
I feel that it is an outcome of a momentary impulse between two consenting adults with the ' back to pavillion' thought haunting one corner of the mind.Marriage therefore appears to be the only way out to attain legal and societal recognition.
Lekin.....hold on....the million dollar question is :
JUST WHO SHOULD TAKE CHARGE ?
Till then.......refresh yourself.....have a cool,cool drink....sochiye...but please do take care of yourself.

Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty admits she may eventually buy an apartment in London for "practical convenience".
Shilpa said: "I do intend to buy my property there. It's a matter of practical convenience. If I'm going to be spending a large chunk of my time there I might as well get my own apartment in London, right? Far more practical than staying in a hotel."
So does she plan to eventually make London her permanent home? "I don't know what I'm going to do tomorrow. Life is so unpredictable. There're lots of things waiting to happen in London. I need the time to sit and decide what to do," Shilpa told IANS.
Shilpa says she is still in touch with her friends at "Big Brother". "I do have an everlasting bonding with some of them. Germaine Jackson and I connect regularly. Yes, he might be coming to the 'Metro' premiere. My other friend from 'Big Brother', Ian MacKellan has his opening day for his play 'Fame' on the same day as the 'Metro premiere', so he won't be able to make it."
As for a film with Akshay Kumar, she says, "Somebody has come up with the idea of casting us together. But nothing definite. I've to be very careful about my moves. I'll be doing things that no one has done so far."
